autumn in paris
ok now, more from my paris shots! love the colors of autumn when i visited. the weather is rather cold, perhaps too cold for my taste, and the blue sky so elusive. the wonderful autumn colors, however are a sigh to behold! the seine, a bridge, a wonderful old european architecture and a tree! what else could you ask for?
happy holidays my friends!!! things are quite hectic now here in manila.

in the spotlight
t was perfect timing for me to get the R1 liting set-up for wireless macro photography! my favorite green orchids were abloom and got these 2 gorgeous blooms to test it on! fantastic speedlights, the possibilities with these are endless!
gold and orange and blue and red
another sunset sky shot, this time with the canon 40D. lol! this is not may camera, just borrowed it to check it out. it is also quite an amazing camera and perhaps as good ISO as the 5D! got lovely tones on this shot and the details are also exceptional!

the other side of the city
this is the view from the hospital i work in, taken from the 9th floor. in view are condominium units and a mall. in the front are still green areas with lush trees and grass.

it's been a while since my last one...
this was actually taken a month ago, i got home early the first time i was able to catch the sunset again from my place! at this time of the year, the sun sets before 530 pm, and i get home past 6 pm, so i never get to witness the sunset on my favorite sea and sky.

bokehlicious!
leaving paris for a while and posting photos from my trip to kobe. got some photo gears in japan and one of them is a set of closeup lenses. they do come in handy during trips where you do not want to bring the macro lens. i believe i shot this from the universal studios in osaka, a side trip we made from kobe.
i miss my flowers, so i really wanted to post this one for all of you!

arc de triomph du carrousel
The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel is a triumphal arch in Paris, France. It is located on the Place du Carrousel, just to the west of the Louvre.
Designed by Charles Percier and Pierre Léonard Fontaine, the arch was made between 1806-1808 by the Emperor Napoleon I on the model of the Arch of Septimius Severus in Rome. It was commissioned to commemorate France's military victories in 1805.
It was originally surmounted by the famous horses of Saint Mark's Cathedral in Venice, captured by Napoleon, but these were returned there in 1815. They were replaced by a quadriga sculpted by Baron François Joseph Bosio, depicting Peace riding in a triumphal chariot, led by gilded Victories on either side; the composition commemorates the Restoration of the Bourbons following Napoleon's downfall.

go towards the light!
from the metro we were going to take the hop-on-hop-off from the lourve. walked pass this dark hallway before seeing the pyramids!
the basilica of the sacred heart
again another gloomy shot, but i like how the clouds formed with the ultrawide lens, so converted this to monochrome as well.
as time goes by
ok it's another eiffel shot lol!!!
got a hazy sky and this shot just did not pass my standards. but i like the composition, so i just have to post it. a few changes, and voila! hope you like it...

a sense of flight
another shot of the winged victory of samothrace. you won't believe how difficult it is to get a shot of this without people! lol!!! the lourve is just filled with people and i can only imagine how it is in the summer!
ok, meet me in the hot pink and red hallway!
this is the hallway going to the toilets of the theatre national de chaillot beside the trocadero. a shocking red and pink room! loved it!
enjoying the view
from inside the cafe of the theatre nactional de chaillot.
busy day again today. did a lot of colonoscopies this afternoon. i do wonderf why anyone would like to have a colonoscopy on saturday but it is one of the busiest day sfor us gastroenterologists here in manila.

it was like going back in time...
a walk around the lourve at night is a fascinating thing! the silence, the coldness of the night, the amazing architecture, it was like i am back in days of king louise! from someone in the tropics this is quite an experience...with the cold air aginst my face, it does feel like going back in time...i can't wait to go back!
welcoming winter
during my stay in paris, autumn turned to winter. i did not experience snow, no, but i was given a chance of getting the feel of the winter wind.
another shot of the lady and the bench along the gardens near the point alexander. the lady in the red scarf....i wonder what she was thinking?

Mareschal Foch at Trocadéro Square
sunset skies from the trocadero. the eiffel is on the other side, but the man on the horse (mareschal foch) against that pink and blue sky caught my eye. the trees gave the composition a bit more interest. hope you like it!
that's the way they do it....
walk, that is, in paris! lol! got this idea of a panning shot of parisiennes from my friend BB during her photos taken while there.
i suppose you got to have a lean, tall figue to be able to pass off as a local! he he...
i suppose you got to have a lean, tall figue to be able to pass off as a local! he he...
gotta have some bling!
just had to post another eiffel shot lol! again, this is during the light show, where the tower twinkles with blinking lights!
i like how this shot gives you an idea of how gigantic this lady is! the stand on right lower portion is where you get tickets to go up to the top. it was a pretty long line, so had to come back another day.

intricate splendor
still inside the lourve. this section was intricately decorated with gold trims it was dazzling! it housed the jewelry, crystals and gem items. it was really like having a look at how the royalty lived during those days (or maybe even today?) truly spectacular!
Winged Victory of Samothrace
The winged goddess of Victory standing on the prow of a ship overlooked the Sanctuary of the Great Gods on the island of Samothrace.
This masterpiece of Helenistic scultures is the center of the this magnificent hall of the Louvre. It's majestic stance in this magnificent hallway was indeed a sight to behold!

cold autumn afternoon
oming from a tropical country i really was in for a surprise with the weather in europe. the last time i was in amsterdam was quite a while, so i had totally forgot how cold it was. on the third day of our stay, it was officially winter and we had to adjust our watches.
i found this interesting scene around the palais royal gardens, from above the hop-on-hop-off bus! love the lady in the bench, all propped up for the cold weather, that sred scarf adding a nice accent. and the bench in the middle of those trees with yellow leaves, it was breathtaking! i was lucky to get a shot of it and happy to share it with all of you...

autumn harmony
found this little parisienne spot near the champs elysees, walking towards the lourve. i love paris in autumn, perhaps this is the best time to visit. not as many tourists as summer, although you will not see much blue skies at this time.
her highness
i have gigabytes of eiffel shots so please bear with me! lol! this one i used the 15mm fisheye on the 5D and then defished it. i like how this shows the tower in relation to the little people below. it's like an alien spaceship when you are there under it! a truly awesome sight!
Île-de-France
the view from the "tour de eiffel"! no, this is not from the top, as it was quite foggy up there, but from the lower levels. it was an interesting trip nonetheles. i could not wait for the elevator going down so i decided to walk all the way down! i was glad i made that decision!
amongst monsters
another gargoyle shot from the notre dame towers. it was raining and good thing i brought my camera's "raincoat". i guess deciding to go up there on a rainy day paid off, since there was no line and i got up there really quick! this was at 300 steps!!! i reached up to 422 steps where you are above the gargoyles! you can see part of the seine river in this shot!
Blue Skies and the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur
it was really a rare moment for me to see a blue sky when i was in paris and that was just a few minutes when we went up to this church. would you believe that in a few minutes the blue sky was gone??? i was sure glad i caught it in time!
natural high
yup that is what i got when i took this photo of the notre dame ceiling and i tell you, it felt like i was shooting from the floor! almost had a case of vertigo! wow! that was quite a high ceiling!
still got loads of paris photos, so this may take till christmas to post! lol! all 12 GB of raw files!

on sunday we went to notre dame hoping to hear mass, but we never got to. apparently we got the wrong information and got there 4 hours early for the english one, and the latin one was over. got a few nice pics though...
no tripods so i used a high ISO to do this shot.
